Crosswave is a dedicated underwater cinematography unit based in Iceland. We build the camera systems and plan the shoot, all with the local expertise and industry experience needed to create one of a kind shots.
Our work has appeared in Planet Earth III, in feature films and for global names such as Apple, Red Bull and Audi across content, TVC’s and brand films. We operate as a bookable service for productions shooting in Iceland and the EU, with the added capability to provide topside cinematography, drone operations and production support as needed.
Two worlds collide
When Steve and Berglind first met in 2023, they spent nearly two months living out of a truck on Australia’s most remote coastline. Searching for wild waves only found in a handful of locations on the planet. Waves where the ocean seems to fold on itself in dramatic fashion at the edge of land and sea, where waves collide and cross - equally treacherous as captivating.
Crosswave North was created to explore the
possibilities of the water in Iceland. For film, science and fun.
With the understanding that in Iceland there is a challenge to overcome. History paints a harrowing picture, the sea has been unforgiving to say the least. Much beyond the tideline is little understood and rarely seen. We hope that through storytelling, film and art we can share a little of the magic we know is out there.

Steve Wall
Underwater Cinematographer & Director
Steve has spent much of his life around the water as a passionate underwater camera operator, photographer and surfer. He combines an expert understanding of the aesthetic and creative opportunities offered by a marine environment with many years of hands on experience.
He has worked as a director and cinematographer for projects such as the BBC’s Planet Earth III, shot commercial work for leading brands and released Undone, his award winning feature documentary as Director/DOP.

Berglind Jóhannsdóttir
Photographer & Creative Producer
Berglind is an Icelandic photographer with a creative background in marketing. Passionate about exploring, understanding and protecting the unique natural landscape. She trained at the photographic school Ljósmyndaskólinn and studied tourism and geography at the University of Iceland.
She knows Iceland like the back of her hand, offering tremendous experience and knowledge for navigating the vast environmental challenges attached to smooth production here in Iceland.
